What TFWA Care did for... Toutes à l’École

Toutes à l’École is a non-profit organisation committed to developing education for young girls living below the poverty line in Cambodia. The charity, founded by French journalist Tina Kieffer in 2005, set up the Happy Chandara school for girls in Prek Thmey in Kandal Province, near Phnom Penh, which now welcomes 970 pupils from primary school through to school leaving age. TFWA Care began supporting the project in 2011.

Since then TFWA Care has sponsored a class of schoolgirls (now Class 7D) at Happy Chandara. Educating girls is of particular importance in Cambodia because mothers are responsible for their children’s education.  Educating future mothers is critical to making a lasting impact and to providing improved life and employment prospects for the many impoverished people in the country.

TFWA Care funds have contributed to the schooling of the pupils, including school facilities and educational equipment, uniforms, food and medical supplies, and to the salaries of the local staff.

Project in 2019

We have been following the evolution of the first cohort of students that TFWA Care funded since 2014. They are now in 9th grade and their scholastic development has been impressive. This year, TFWA Care will continue to support and sponsor the students at Happy Chandara school in class 9D. Aid for the necessary school supplies and courses will be provided together with orthodontic treatments for the girls.


The dual objectives for 2019:

  • Continuation of TFWA Care's sponsorship of class 9D at the Happy Chandara school
  • Provision of orthodontic treatments for 25 students

Project in 2018

TFWA Care sponsored Toutes à l’Ecole class 8D. The funding helped all the girls at Class 8D to continue their education with free books, school supplies and dental care as well for the entire year. Some of the girls have never received dental care before and they had the chance to visit a dentist for the first time. The aid also helped alleviate the financial burden of their families. Thanks to TFWA Care, Class 8D and their teacher went to school every day carefree with a smile.
